What causes alternator failure?

HOW DO I IDENTIFY ALTERNATOR FAILURE?

Alternator failure usually manifests itself in the vehicle's electrical system. Symptoms of alternator failure may include the following:

Charging Lamp: If the charging lamp on the vehicle's dashboard flashes or stays on continuously, this could be a sign of alternator failure.

Battery problems: If the battery charge light is on continuously or the battery is constantly discharging, this may indicate that the alternator is not working properly.

Electrical accessories: If the vehicle's headlights, interior lights, or other electrical accessories operate at low light levels or do not work, this may also indicate alternator failure.

Noises: If the alternator bearings are worn or the belt is loose, squealing or rattling noises may be heard from the alternator.
